Summary
Administer and implement a program assuring that all buildings and grounds are well maintained and upgraded as necessary; assure that a safe and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere is provided for patients, visitors and medical and hospital staff. Establish systems to provide for efficient and smooth running of the facility. Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary. Maintain managerial and technical responsibility for the Medical Equipment Program at the main Hospital and off-site locations, in an efficient and responsible manner so as to minimize downtime and reduce delays in patient care. Duties may include performing job-related functions at any facility or program operated by the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network (SRN).
Key Responsibilities
Building structures are maintained per established regulatory requirements and guidelines.
Ongoing maintenance program is established for the hospital (painting, wall covering, grounds, equipment, etc.) that protects the value and function of the Hospital's facilities assets.
Department compliance is monitored and maintained to meet all state and federal regulations.
Service Contracts are reviewed and monitored for buildings and grounds.
Compliance with a system of policies and procedures that ensures the physical safety of patients, visitors and employees is established and maintained.
Hospital Safety Committee is chaired, and other groups and committees are actively participated in to advance established objectives.
Staffing levels are monitored and adjusted to meet department and SRN demands.
Equipment Preventive Management Program is established and maintained to meet established standards.
Hospital service requests are assigned and scheduled per established guidelines and timeframes.
Quality of equipment service records is verified in the equipment management database.
Assignments are documented using log books, daily work sheets, and requisitions.
Training is provided to employees to meet equipment and proper safety precautions.
Budget is monitored to achieve financial objectives.
Purchase orders are developed and issued per department standards.
Staff weekly hours worked are approved.
Team members are hired, mentored, and continually developed to achieve stated goals for performance.
Performance evaluations are completed accurately and timely in accordance with organization standards.
Staff direction and support is provided to ensure adherence to department policies and procedures.
Serves as Safety Officer; coordinates drills and safety tours, maintains records on safety data , orients staff to fire/safety programming, serves on EOC committee (may be Chair), assists with building's eSOC reporting and improvement plans
Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives.

Education/Degree
Required
Associate's Degree in a technical discipline or relevant experience.
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
Experience
Required
Minimum of 5 years experience.
Five to ten years' progressive experience in management of facilities operation, preferably in a hospital setting.

Skills (Specific learned activity gained through training (e.g. computer skills, keyboarding, presentation, CPR, ACLS, etc.)

Knowledge and background in all aspects of Plant Operations (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, work order and building automation systems).
Computer proficiency required. Microsoft office applications preferred with ability to learn new software.
